In such an environment, traditional rubber or contact seals would shatter instantly. If the seal fails, engine oil will leak into the intake or exhaust system, resulting in "oil burning," blue exhaust smoke, severe carbon buildup, and even rotor seizure or shaft breakage due to a lack of lubrication. Pressure Balance Design
